Three murals by artists Sandow Birk and Elyse Pignolet are to be installed in the SFJAZZ Center, titled "Jazz and the Nation," "Jazz and the City," and "Jazz and the Afterlife". Here's a quick teaser at the tedious process to make this vision a reality!

On November 16, 2011, our architectural photographer Henrik Kam was on hand to capture the momentous concrete pour for the SFJAZZ Center foundation. The footage has been compiled into a time-lapse video for everyone's viewing pleasure. Music by Joe Zawinul and Absolute Ensemble.

The SFJAZZ Center groundbreaking took place on May 17. Giant Steps Members, SFJAZZ donors, community and civic leaders were there for the fun!

San Francisco mayor Edwin Lee, NAACP CEO Benjamin Jealous, actor Terence Howard, SFJAZZ Center Campaign Co-Chair Robert Mailer Anderson, percussionist John Santos and other luminaries spoke at the SFJAZZ Center press conference on May 6.
