3rd Annual SFJAZZ Girls Day

Join celebrated women jazz faculty in this very special session for female jazz musicians and singers ages 13-18. Essential skills including ensemble techniques, improvisation and musicianship will be the focus of this program geared toward emerging jazz musicians and vocalists.

Our all-female faculty this year include some of the most inspiring women in jazz performance and education, including Victoria Theodore on vocals and piano (Beyoncé, Stevie Wonder, Arsenio Hall Show), Angela Wellman on trombone (founder and Executive Director of the Oakland Public Conservatory), Kasey Knudsen on woodwinds (Sonoma State University, Montclair Women’s Big Band), and SFJAZZ Director of Education and pianist Rebeca Mauleón. We are also thrilled to welcome two of our extraordinary High School All-Stars Alumni, Aneesa Strings on bass, and Ruthie Price on drums, along with current All-Stars trumpeter Kate Williams, who will assist as a brass coach.

The program will start in the morning for vocalists with a special 2-hour workshop; instrumentalists will begin at 1pm. Space is limited so reserve your spot soon!

Ideal for girls ages 13-18; maximum 10 vocalists and 25 instrumentalists
