Electric Squeezebox Orchestra/Tommy Igoe Groove Conspiracy

Led by one of the most in-demand drummers and educators in the world, the hard-hitting Tommy Igoe Groove Conspiracy band includes members of Pacific Mambo Orchestra, Tower of Power, and the Doobie Brothers. The band has established a devoted following for their superb musicianship and unique, fresh arrangements of material from the big band canon, with the powerhouse drumming of the leader at the heart of it all. Their self-titled album was recently released and features guest artists Randy Brecker, Santana’s Karl Perazzo, and Snarky Puppy’s Michael League, and for this special evening, the band performs fresh arrangements of the timeless songs of Steely Dan. The son of acclaimed big band drummer Sonny Igoe, Tommy Igoe has worked with an impressive range of artists including Dave Grusin, Art Garfunkel, the New York Voices, and Stanley Jordan, among others. The 17-piece Electric Squeezbox Orchestra is a top shelf big band made up of many of the Bay Area’s finest, under the direction of trumpeter Erik Jekabson. The band cemented its soulful ensemble sound through a weekly residency at San Francisco’s Doc’s Lab, and has collaborated with artists including John Santos, Kenny Washington, and Madeline Eastma. The group’s debut CD Cheap Rent was recently released on the OA2 record label, receiving a 4.5 star DownBeat review.
