For those not already familiar, UnderCover Presents was founded by "music enabler" Lyz Luke in 2010, and has rapidly established itself as an inspirational collective that gathers musicians and artists from every facet of San Francisco Bay Area’s creative community. SFJAZZ teamed up with UnderCover to curate a four night residency to close out the 2017 Summer Sessions on August 17-20, paying tribute to two legendary artists (Ray Charles, Nina Simone), one landmark album (Miles Davis' Bitches Brew), and a seminal studio band (Muscle Shoals), each night showcasing four different Bay Area ensembles, as they present bold reinterpretations of this iconic music.
